A Buy In Two Saves Two

Here Comes The Disposable Hard Drive

Beginning October 1, Maxtor will cut the warranty period on all its products down to one year. So will Seagate, and Western Digital will only provide three years on its SE models.

No word on what IBM/Fujitsu will do.

If you need a hard drive fairly shortly, probably would be a good idea to buy one before October 1.

Apparently, in the EU, they have to offer a minimum of two, but three is still more than two, so that would be a good idea in the EU, too.

If IBM continues with a three-year warranty, you may want to buy drives from them after October 1.
