Best Gift

OK – so I am curious about two questions:

  1. What is the best technology gift you received?

  2. What is the best gift you received overall?

I have one tech gift (the GPS I reviewed HERE) that frankly I think is the best ever and will review it shortly. Someone will receive a goody just for responding – drawn at random.

1/4/08: Usually when readers respond to our surveys there is some commonality among the responses – in this case, no! Best technology gifts ranged from iPods to LCD screens to CPUs to programmable coffee makers and more – there was not one category that accounted for a large percentage of responses.

However, I do have to highlight one that I think is hysterical – The ThinkGeek Annoy-a-tron:

Pic

“The Annoy-a-tron generates a short (but very annoying, hence the name) beep every few minutes. Your unsuspecting target will have a hard time ‘timing’ the location of the sound because the beeps will vary in intervals ranging from 2 to 8 minutes. The 2kHz sound is generically annoying enough, but if you really really want to aggravate somebody, select the 12 kHz sound. Trust us. The higher frequency and slight ‘electronic noise’ built into that soundbyte will make a full-grown Admin wonder where his packets are.”

A measly $10 and a way to drive people crazy – ain’t technology grand?

Best gift ever – I was happy to see that many of you considered family, friends, girlfriends and wives as your best gifts; while there are obviously no correct responses, it’s nice to see some focus on the non-material – this was also my best gift ever.

And the winner for responding, drawn at random, is Robert Birnie – thanks to all who responded and Best Wishes to all for the New Year.
