Today I have the Ryzen7 1700X and the Ryzen 7 1700 on the test bench. The Ryzen 7 1700X and Ryzen 7 1700 are identical to their big brother the Ryzen 7 1800X in every way aside from base clocks and boost speeds. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X CPU Review

It feels like it has been years since we’ve had an AMD CPU on hand for a review, because it has! The last part we saw was an APU back in 2014. Since those years ago, AMD has come out with a completely new architecture, moved to a 14nm process, gotten rid of those “modules” we’ve grown accustomed to, and are boasting a self-proclaimed 52% IPC gain over their previous CPU. Desktop processors now range from four cores without SMT (Simultaneous Multi-Threading) all the way up to eight cores with SMT. All of the processors have a vastly reduced TDP with the highest SKU coming in at 95W (just four watts higher than the i7-7700K). This is a huge improvement of the 220W the top Vishera CPU pulled down and the 125W of the FX-8580.

Today, specifically, we’ll be talking about the Ryzen 7 series, the flagship 1800X CPU in the lineup. IPC improvements are huge over Excavator, thread count is up (depending how you view modules the core count is up also), and I know all of us enthusiasts are excited to see the new challenger who has been looming. Intel i7-7700K Kaby Lake CPU Review

It seems like only yesterday we were reviewing the Skylake CPU, but it turns out that was nearly 17 months ago! Intel i7-6950X Broadwell-E CPU Review

Today we are going to get a chance to review Intel’s next processor in their High-End Desktop (HEDT) platform. The king of the consumer hill used to be the mighty i7-5960X our friend Dino reviewed back in August of 2014. That ‘extreme’ CPU shook up the landscape then by providing the consumer with a high clocked, octo-core CPU with a total of 16 threads. Since then Intel brought to market their 14 nm Broadwell CPU architecture, on their mainstream platform, through their “tick-tock” cycle. Intel Skylake i7 6700K CPU Review

Just barely a month ago, Intel’s “Tick” release of Broadwell desktop processors hit the scene. The dust has barely settled from that release, and a “Tock” release is upon us. As is usually the case, an Intel “Tock” release generally means a new microarchitecture. This can typically include improved energy efficiency, better performance, and improvements in video transcoding and encryption/decryption. Intel i7 5775C Broadwell CPU Review

Keeping with their Tick-Tock model, Intel’s latest “Tick” CPU comes in the form of the i7 5775C. As is the case with “Tick” releases, we have a new manufacturing process that advances the Haswell 22nm manufacturing process to Broadwell’s 14nm. The Broadwell desktop CPUs will work on any Z97 chipset motherboard, provided the appropriate BIOS update has been made available.
