right now I have my athalon 1400 266 fsb @ 1600mhz 139x11.5 that is as high as it will go if I go any higher it either will not load or when it does it restarts as soon as windows pops up I think that maybe I need a bigger psu but maybe not. my sys runs super stable at 40c idle ant max load at 46c but I am giving it alot of voltage 2.03 I feel I should be able to reach a higher speed with less voltage wich would run even cooler. when I bought my cpu it was supposed to be able to O/C to quite high can't remember how much but more than where I am at right now it is a AYHJA core I also have good ram I thought crucial pc2100 cas 2 lat does anyone have any ideas I will be getting a bigger psu real soon also thanks.

You could try dropping the multiplier and upping the FSB. Try all kinds of combs with FB and multi. The higher OC's generally have a lower multi and higher fsb. Just be careful as your peripherals may not like the high FSB ie. pci cards, agp, hdd. Give some specs on your sys. Your board may be equipped qith the 1/5 divider which can theoretically lead to higher oc's. The only price OC.com charges for help is info. " No info, no service" j/k

does it sound like it might be a power issue?

my sys is
epox 8k7a mainboard
1400 athalon 266fsb@1600 139x11.5
crucial 256mb pc2100 cas 2 lat
radeon 64mb 8500
soundblaster live Xgamer 5.1
40 gig IBM deskstar ATA100 7200 rpm hd
10/100 network card for DSL
HP 4x cdr burner
Aopen 52x cd rom
my cooling is a thermalright sk-6 with 60mm delta
a 350watt enermax psu
my case has 4 80mm fans 2 intake 2 exaust
19 sony trinitron monitor

The max on a T-bird 1400 is around 1600. I could not do too much better with mine. Time to upgrade.

I have seen people reach much higher than that and if that is the case that would be pathetic.

Yeah with LN2 and vaporchill. Your temps are too high for that kind of voltage. Water cooling is realy needed for a good o/c with a t-bird. I wish you luck. I gave up on mine. I find that a multiplier of 10 works well. Try that with FSB of 160 and see how it works out. The key to a good o/c is cooling. Higher FSB speeds equall better performace, than higher multipliers.

the temps are a little bit high but not bad my brothers new xp2100 standard speed runs at 60c idle and about 65c full load .

There is something wrong with that system them.

That's not true. Those temps are normal for an xp2100 on air cooling- Especially if it is using a cooler something like amd's supplied one or has poor air flow. This Athlon 1000 runs at 60 full load because of that reason.

I harldey consider 60c acceptable.
