Hi yall. I have a question for ya, soon my components for my first self build computer will be here and I must say that it will be pretty nice. I will have a Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 mg and will be using windows XP at the operating system. Now I have this monitor from as long as 10 years ago that Ive been using with all my hand me down computer systems since we got it. Now of course I plan to buy a new monitor sometime but I want a really good one and I will have to save up some cash first. Anyway will I even beable to use this thing at all, all I know about it is that its says ViScan on the front, the video in connector has 15 pins and that its very dusty. Im pretty sure it will at least connect, but I wonder if any of you know what the advancement it monitor quality have been since then. Did most of them have a horrible refresh rate or something. Well Im not sure if anyone will have any perteninent information but I thought id put this out there in case there is someone who might know what I mean. Thanks Alot. Mav
it will connect and work... but not to your satisfaction.
i myself am running on a Philips 17" 107T flat CRT which at staples was on sale for 175.00 which i am extremely happy with. plays anything i've thrown at it.
if you want bigger i'd head to the big leagues of sony or nec.
The only monitor that I have that won't work with my computer is the green-screen from my 8086.
You mention that you've used it on all your hand-me-down systems for a while. I assume that means that you're used to that monitor. If so, you won't notice any diffrence from your old computer to your new one. If, however, you bought a new monitor, my guess is that you'd like it more. Higher refresh rates, and better color phosphors (they've got to be going a little after 10 years...).

Thanks alot for the fast replys. It seams I was pretty acurate in thinking that It would be ok to use but not near the kind of quality I could get with a nicer new monitor. Thats good to know, and I supose I could play games on the tv or something lol since i dont need to be reading text then or what ever untill i shell out for the new monitor. Thanks.

you can find nice refurb. monitors. The last two monitors i got were refurbished one is a mag dj530, and another this hp 20 " trinitron tube. They both are nice bright and crisp. I would suggest if you cant afford a new one, buy a refurbished one, you'll be happy, most are them are like new quality.
