has anyone tried this with a non moble duron?

If what that article says is true for regular durons, than AMD is doing the same thing intel does w/ the celerons - basically remarking XP's and disabling the cache through hardware means. I'm gonna take a look at my chip when I get home from work and give the mod a whirl. If it works (and my duron magically has 256k cache), than I'll be looking at at 10-20% improvement at least. I'll let you guys know...

that could just report a 256K cache and still be at 64, right?

Maybe to the bios, but there should be a way to uncover what the actual cache value is using sandra, wcpuid, or other similar programs...

or you could just see if you picked up any performance. i didn't think of that before.

Won't work on morgan duron - the L2 bridges are buried (ie, they are not on the surface). The only way you could do it would be to find the corresponding pins on the socket itself - not gonna try that though (yet), I still tapped out from hooking up my diode reader...
