View Full Version : Problem running 3DMark2001 w/overclocked system & Geforce 3 ????
I've been running my PIII 1gig @ 1500 with a Hercules Geforce 2 64mb and 3DMark 2001 with no problems. Today I installed a new Visiontek Geforce 3 and 3DMark2001 won't run. I have uninstalled and reinstalled un-overclocked and still it won't work. I try and open the program and it won't run. I am using Direct X 8.0b and Nvidia's 12.40 drivers. Anyone else with this same problem and hopefully a fix?
First off, what kind of motherboard you running this on? Is it a BX chipset? Did you make sure you did a full uninstall of the Hercules before you installed the Visiontek? I know I had a similar incident when I switched from a Hercules Geforce 256 to my current Geforce 2.
And also, where'd you buy the p3 (I'm assuming cc0 with a 100mhz default fsb) from? I'm in the market to buy a nice p3-1ghz.
I'm running an Asus CUSL2-C and it's default 133mhz FSB for the PIII 1 gig. There was a blurb on MadOnion's FAQ about 3DMark2001 not installing correctly on an overclocked system so I clocked it down to 1 gig, removed 3DMark2001 and all registry entries, properly installed the latest official Nvidia drivers (12.41) and reinstalled 3DMark. It will not run. This is a fresh installed system with Windows ME and not much else on it.
I don't remember where I got my 1gig. Check pricewatch and www.resellerratings.com
