I just need a simple IEEE 1394 card for a Dazzle HollyWood DV-Bridge. I don't need anything fancy, hell a one port card would be enough, that is if they made any :). I want something that won't give me any throubles either. Here are my choices, note all prices are Canadian:

$76 ATI DV WONDER IEEE1394 FIREWIRE PCI 3 PORTS NTSC
$72 LAVA 1394 FIREHOST 2 PORT PCI FIREWIRE HOST ADAPTER
$46 TEKRAM IEEE1394 FIREWIRE 3 PORT PCI CARD
$88 IOGEAR 3-PORT FIREWIRE PCI CARD 3EXT 1INT
$59 D-LINK DFW-500 PCI 3 PORT FIREWIRE CONTROLLER

For such a simple device the prices sure are high. Well I can't complain about the Tekrar price, but I never heard of them. So what do you guys think I should go with? Remember I don't need anything fancy, just something that will work everytime.

Thanks for the help.

wow, those seem pretty high, locall I've seen them advertised for like $39 Canadian. Which is roughly $30 US. ( a bit less)

Wait a minute, would a Sound Blaster Audigy do the job? I need a new sound card aswell and looking at the prices, an Audigy isn't much off and comes with a IEEE 1394 port. An OEM costs $100 exactly, so what do you guys think?

If i needed firewire i would just buy an Audigy
get a soundcard upgrade, Firewire all in 1 PCI slot...
And the Audigy is only about $20 more than Firewire only cards.

I agree with jay, get the audigy, IMHO its not worth it to be paying those prices ONLY for firewire, you'll get a really good sound card (though not such a great company  ) if you get the audigy, along with the firewire functionality

UniBrain's FireNet, which comes with the Audigy's, lets you network using the FireWire ports, so its around twice as fast as Gigabit Ethernet, though you could just buy the retail version,(I did, works great). D-Link or I/OGear. :)
