When using either KDfold or Em3, after a reboot, the connection will time out. I have to choose the path all over again for KDfold and delete/add a box for Em3. Something is definitly wrong here but i cant figure out what. When i do those things, it works and continues to display the work being done. Its annoying and should not be like that. Any suggestions?

Are you monitoring another computer over a network or is this happening on a single computer? Also, I'm not sure what you mean by connection will time out?

With regards to EM3, after you reboot and restart F@H, EM3 should display the protein type fairly quickly but the estimated times will take a while. EM3 has to wait until you complete a frame or two to fill-in this information.

Sorry i wasnt a bit clearer. I have a spare pc folding almost non stop. Im monitoring it through my network connection. If i reboot my main computer (non folding one) and open up Em3 or KDfold to monitor the other pc, it cant connect. In Em3 it says error and wont connect unless i delete the box and add it again. In KDfold, it says cpu disconnected. There again, i have to locate my work folder and configure it again. This is annoying and useless if i have to do this everytime.

Your PC isn't set up to establish a network connection when you reboot.
If you haven't already done so, map the network drive.
This should fix the problem. Sometimes when the other system is off you will get an error message from windows asking you if you want to check for the drive the next time you boot up. This is where a problem occurs if you say "no" to this question.

You need to make sure that your system reestablishes its network connection on reboot. You don't have to delete the box in EM, just double click the red computer icon and it will try and establish a connection again.

Have you mapped the other computer's hard drive to your main computer? In other words, the other computer's hard drive should show up as the E: drive (or some other available drive letter) on your main computer.

I mapped it but it doesnt give me the option to connect at startup which it obviously doesnt do. I have to connect manually in order to access it.

Interesting. I'm not familiar with Windows XP, but Windows 2000 connects you automatically to all mapped drives when you login (as long as the mapped drive's computer is running of course). I must admit that I am not sure what the problem is at this point. Maybe someone else has seen this problem before.

THE PASSWORD!!! lol. I didnt know you could share a drive without a password to access it. Works fine now, i didnt have to map the drive as long as its in my network places. Thanks for the help.

*mumbles* stupid password *mumbles*

I'm glad you got it figured out. I didn't even think about a password for the shared drive. Well at least know you can monitor and track your Folding progress.
