Why might a Ip not renew or repair in xp pro?

I have a cable modem hooked up shows connection and will not renew ip address so no cable access any help Thanks?

check to see if the network connection is using a 169.x.x.x ip address that will stop both of those from compleating. If this is the case you will have to uninstall and reinstall the network connection.

The prob was so simple and so retarded but all it was that was wrong is that adelphia had boned 1 certain nic to cable service never heard of that but ok its fixed for now!
