overclocked, yes benchmarks, no!

i have a ATI Radeon 32 meg ddr vid card. when I overclock it it will work in windows on applications just fine, but when I run 3dmark it freezes up on me everytime it also does this with games This occurs even when I barely overclock it. Any suggestions or ideas?

Don't overclock it would be the obvious answer.......but of course that's not why we are here! =)

Stock cooling I assume? Does it crash as soon as 3D starts or does it go a while?

I had the same problem
what i did was go into the vid options menu in 3d2001 and set textures to 32bit instead of compressed...and ive never had a problem since
