Got a spare HDD you can try? That would be my first attempt. Otherwise the memory would be my next suspect... I've heard from a few sources that that Crucial Reg/ECC stuff is a little dodgy.

Just for reference this is the standard message when windows 2000 or XP does not have the right driver for the hard drive contoller. You can often load windows onto the drive but on first boot it will stop and give this message.
Usually means you need to install a driver at the first of the install.
Sounds like you have it handled already though.

When I built my dual system as a test of windows xp pro I pluged the hdd into the board and booted off it to see if xp would accept the board change. It tottally freaked out.

To switch computers with a working XP installed on a hard drive
you will need to run the setup disc for windows XP.
Wait until it searches for previous installations. Then hit R to repair.
It will a reload of the operating system but keep the old preferences.

Only if the new board is very similar will it adapt and work normal.
I have went from a single athlon to a pentium 3 with everything else the same. But going from intel to amd I have to use the repair/reload.

Yes, yes, this makes a lot more sense now that I think about it. The guys over at 2CPU are always saying, "new installation of windows" every time you switch a motherboard. I was able to pull my Shuttle board out of my main box to sell and I swapped in my KT7A but that probably only worked (os: winxp) because they use the same driver. (Via KT266A vs. KT133A)

So as a point of reference, maybe it should be established around here as well that if you're having troub;e, try a fresh, new OS install.
