Okay, I have a question regarding the use of multiple power supplies for the peltier I am going to get. It needs 24V @ 10Amps.

If I take 2 old AT-style power supplies and combine their 12v lines it should get 24volts right?? But I need 10 amps at 24v.

If they have, for instance, 10amps each on their 12v lines that will make 20amps combined???:eh?: And if it does "combine" to make 20amps, isn't that too much for the pelt. If you throw more amps than necessary into a pelt is it bad?? :eh?:

Here is the pelt:
Imax = 11.3 Amps
Qmax = 172 Watts
Vmax = 24.6 Volts
Delta Tmax = 69 (C)

if you combine them you will have 20A but still 12V, sorry no way around that.
consider trying to find a pelt that gives you enough power at a rated 12V.

wrong. if I put 2 12v sources together it becomes 24 volts. can anybody else help please??

This isn't hard.... :beer:

If run in series, you will have 24v, 10 amps
If run in paralell you will have 12v and 20 amps

"combine" is too general of a term to describe what you want to do :D:D

I stand corrected.

#1. So running in series does not combine the amps??

#2. How would I set up the AT power supplies in series as opposed to parellel?? I thought I just connected the red pelt wire to both of the 12v plugs on the supplies.

no, series sums the voltage, paralell sums the current.

that's tricky since the -12v line (black) is earthed to the shassis of the powersupply requiring you to isolate (from earth) one of the powersupplies for that to work.

i did not understand a word you just said. How, again, do I set up the AT power supplies in series??

I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to set up 2 AT power supplies in series to power this peltier.....:eh?:

Somewhere I found a link on how to do that. Hold on a minute...

This link should do ya:
