Hi gone_fishing,
Reading through the threads, I see you have the Rainbow Lifeguard Quiet One pump.
I am looking at this pump, but have one question I was hoping you could answer.
How big is it? In particular, from the inlet to the back of the pump, but overall dimensions if you have them.
I have searched the web for this info, but couldn't come by it. Thanks for any info you can provide.
P.S. Anyone else that knows is welcome to answer too :)

Hi vandersl, The distance from inlet to outlet opening is 5 inches, then you must add a barb into the female threaded opening. The height is five inches without a barb. The width is 3 1/4". It comes in a top or side discharge model, I have the top discharge.

No reply on the PM channel (I'm kinda impatient :)), so...
How do you like this pump? It seems the size is good. Is it really quiet as they claim? How would you rate it compared say to an eheim or the via aqua (noise, not flow)?
Just looking around for pumps, and something with this performance that claims to be 'quiet' is sort of attractive.

check pm.
Since the thread is continuing, I'll say they didn't name it the Quiet One for nothing;)

Well, I ordered the Quiet One, it'll arrive tomorrow.
Just one question Gone - what are you using for the male fitting?
I see the pump comes default with a 3/4" male NPT outlet, and a 1/2" male NPT adapter.
Now, I like using 5/8" barbs for my 1/2" tubing, and may move to 5/8" tubing during this installation. However, I've had a heck of a time trying to find 3/4" female NPT barb adapters.
I've found some 1/2" X 1/2" adapters, and I think I can locate some 1/2" X 3/4" adapters, but these sizes seem very rare.
What did you use - or are you foregoing barbs completely? Anyone have any good suppliers that might carry these adapters (I've tried USPlastic, McMaster, Grainger).
P.S. I went with the vertical discharge also.

I bought mine here http://www.marinedepot.com/a_pu_quietone.asp?CartId=
I got my adapters from the local Ace hardware store.
