It Sounds good to me. When it comes to building Computers This is my advice,
If it can do what you want it to do then it is good.
But you should always do some Research on the parts that you want.
For real you rig sounds good to me. It is better than the one i am using. A lot better lol.
Good luck to you bro.

yeah thtas prolly one of thje best setups that you can get, but the heatsink should be an AX-7 or ALK-800 form thermalright

could you show me a link with the difference in performance between the ALPHA heatsink with delta 80mm versus the thermalright AX-7?

This is a nice rig. Very nice. By what I see here I assume you have money! lol. If you add everything up and you turn out to have alot of extra cash, and since you have a raid mothermoard, look into some nice SCSI 36GB 10000 or 15000 rpm HDD's. If you can afford to go w/ a SCSI config, then do it, its definitely worth it.

Hey, I see your pro scsi hd. You also have one in your system? Does it kick ass?
Why are a lot of people then saying scsi is not worth the tiny improvement you get and that you should stick with RAID?

Me not having a SCSI HDD does not mean that I don't know how good they are. My Dad's friend works at TIVOLI up in Austin. They have a huge room full of servers and like 6 SCSI systems. Those hard drives fly through anything. I do think they are overpriced, but if you have the extra money, why not make that little extra jump?
get pc3000 for the extra dollar it costs. well worth it.

thanks guys, but money is a slight factor here, thats why I didnt go for a lian li case, etc. I might look into SCSI in a few years, I am only 14 and I cant afford those drives yet.
the whol thing will cost me a little over 1400 USD from Newegg.com

i understand. i always look at the price/performance of anything i suggest. i know most people aren't made of money so i don't go through the roof. (lol... roof, roof jumper) anyways... just don't let anyone talk you into spending lots of money and you'll be fine.

now, about the Ram, I might go with PC 3000 as it is only a few dollars more.
and besides, this system will be light years ahead of the one in my sig:D

actually its only one dollar more. and its guaranteed (speed rating) to run faster. this way if it doesn't overclock to a certain speed you can get them to switch it out for a new stick with no problems.
   OMG!! i just read your signature... thats just... wrong. lol.

For your age I think you are working on a pretty good buget. I am 14 and I have maybe $300 to spend. I might get around to getting a couple of used parts together and setting up another folding machine.

oh, it is mainly going to be a B-day, christmas combo present, but I have to shell out roughly 350 dollars or so.

That is what I just decided. Us fourteen year olds need to stick together. :)

Roof Jumper: I absolutely LOVE that sig. Man, that is beautiful.
Keep looking at stuff, reading reviews etc. New tech comes out and prices change: I pick and choose just which stuff I want to have top-notch, and what I am willing to live with that is a bit older.
1 generation back for hardware is usually a great spot to go with for MOST things: a lot less money, performance is not far back (and is still more than most software can use!) and it usually has most/all the bugs worked out and better drivers.
The ONLY thing that I like to be sure of is a great mobo.
A point on scsi: my experience is that while scsi performance is great, it does NOT OC well- if ocing is planned stick with ide drives.
I haven't messed with raid for either interface, but with the cost/performance of the new ide stuff, scsi has lost its advantage for most uses. High end scsi is still faster, but the boost in speed comes at a hefty cost.

Go with the system you are planning out right now! I was just saying that if there was ALOT of extra money on your hands you could go woth SCSI.
When you are getting that new rig from newegg, make sure you get it all at once. It's never fun buying one thing at a time, and when you have money to upgrade again the older stuff is already outdated.

If you need to think about things, head to pcpowerandcooling.com and pick up a top of the line PS. As I posted in a previous thread, CPUs, mobos, vid cards all get outdated big time. A PS doesn't get outdated (unless you get a 250 Watter, in which case you may lack the juice later).
If you're spending 1400 bucks, you might as well protect it and power it with the best.
Right now, I am looking at either building an entire new computer, or I can easily slap in a new mobo and CPU in my current config for about 80 bucks and see a significant improvement.
(Yeah, I could, but I am going to build a new one. I wish I could get hooked on drugs. They would be cheaper.)
one thing that is always overlooked when people build massive gaming machines.. GET A UPS!!! gaming machines are expensive and it only takes one bolt of lighting to rid you of your 1400 bucks.
get an APC. they are the best on the market and fairly affordable and have warranties up to like $75,000 worth of equipment if your stuff does get toasted.
