DOD= Day of Defeat... half life mod
check to see if there are any patches for DOD and apply them. since its a mod for a already made game there are certain things that don't get as much time in the programmer's schedule.
i would say its most likely the mod itself. not your computer. does it do it on any other game?

BUMP... still havent got this fixed yet :(
hehe dont you love it when Gateway... let me enfasize that more.... GATEWAY's computer components always seem to do half ass all the time... see, you get a really super high quality mobo and cpu, then add something from ANY gateway, and it does half ass... :D
I have an ISA sound card.. want that.. mawhahahahaha
The transfer rate on that sound card proly isn't fast enough, lol its like when u first got dsl, your phonlines(mobo) can be fiber optic but your line going to your house(your sound card) could be copper wire that was made before the 1930's and has been spliced and tapped and the phone box beaten with my baseball bat a hundred times and crosses and shorts when the slightest humidity touches it or if someone sneezes.......
Well.... i think you need to go with buying a new sound card next buuuddie :burn:

heh... anyway i tried reinstalling dod didnt work, then i installed it in my CS RETAIL folder and still the sound is messed up...
try messing with the sound hw acceleration into the sound properties in the control panel. try with it to use only the required resources or try with it at the full acceleration.

turned it down all the way helped a little but still cuts out when people are speaking on voice comm..
how much ram do u have? arent system resources too low when you run the games?
i think i should try the regular stuff - defragging hd, check pci latency in bios, other sound card driver, EAX settings in audioHQ etc.

When you got the new mobo and cpu, did you do a fresh install or just plopped the HDD in?

I reckon most likely that is your problem right there.
Now the decision is whether to sit and try to figure some other way around it for days and hope there is a fix, then break down and just reinstall or spend 30mins reinstalling windows.

The lower the value the faster it will be. You always want latency to be low. However stability can suffer from the bus running too fast. Usually 32 is a good balance between performance and stability.

Just a question, how did you install the drivers? Did you do it maually or did you do it off of the CD's auto run?
