It seems like it might be pretty cool for a LAN box. Probably wouldn't be able to o/c though. And I've no idea what the cooling will be like on it, but I'd imagine you could be creative and rig up something that will work.

I asked about it and you CAN get this thing without the board. The only thing that would be my big concern is finding a low-profile graphics card that's any count (all I found with a quick search on pricewatch was a TNT2 M-64 card (yuck).

Perhaps something like an N-FORCE 2 based board might work well in this since it's got pretty decent integrated video.

Might be good for those looking to make an all in one unit computer system for someone too. No idea on the price for it, though. I'll try to find out and post it here when I know.

looks interesting... but i don't think you'll get the performance you need for lan blasting.

Here are some good systems for LANs...

I have built about 50 or 60 systems based on the Hera & Hera2 PC's. They have moderate room for a large heatsink, and have somewhat decent ventilation. There is also room for 1 full sized PCI card in the Heras, so you can put a decent PCI video card in one of these.

Of course, you dont have a monitor.

Dude, get a nForce and overclock it like crazy.... You could probably overclock the nForce a good 30MHz, put a good 60mm 2500 RPM Fan blowing on it, And you'll be good to go for CS.

Ugh, PCI video card. I agree you're not going to be able to get extreme performance. And forget overclocking or even a real high-end CPU with that 200 watt PSU.

Hmm, I think maybe I'll stick with my plexi cube idea. If only it weren't so damned big (15"x15"x15").
