i got this from the Ray Adams front page and the source is ocworkbench.com (http://www.ocworkbench.com/), i beleive the tests were run with the Xabre 400:

"We ran the Eng. board based on SIS648 chipset using a P4 2.4G at DDR333 CAS 2,2-2-5 mode. Here are our results of 3dMark2001SE Build 330. Drivers used: 3.02a.02.

3DMark2001SE Build 330 results:

8X AGP 7382
4X AGP 7366

Quake 3 Demo 001 (800x600x32):

8X AGP 248.0fps
4X AGP 245.7fps

Looks like the 8x AGP and 4x AGP difference isn't that a big performance jump on the 3DMark2001SE Build 330. Do take note these results are based on initial beta BIOS and drivers. The final results should improve!"

GOOD! I am not gonna go out and buy a new mobo that supports AGP 8x for more 2 FPS. I am glad that it doesnt offer that much improvement, if it was like 20 FPS faster then id have to ditch this mobo and get one that supported AGP 8x.

I hope it doesnt get much better with newer agp drivers and bios revisions or i might be tempted to get a board that supports it. Nice find ottO Ive been wondering how AGP 8x will perform for a while now.

but i really bet this wont take so long to change DaddyB. there is just no difference at all in fact. it seems like 8x wasnt even enabled yet from the mainboard bios or something..

still i think it is fair to say that within the next 12-15 months the difference between the 4 and 8 agp cards will be hughe so we will all have to upgrade anyway.

But that's the way everything is nowadays.

Yeah, benno has a point. Somewhere along the line the extra bandwith of 8x will make a difference, but not just yet. Technology is funny like that.
