hey...

i've printed out the case painting guide and am going by the book, but i have a few problems that i have not (thank God) come to YET...

first of all, where i happen to be right now (i'm doing this with a friend, its his case), they only have sandpaper going up to 600 (which to me seems pretty dern soft), leaving me out in the cold when it comes to the 1000, 1500, and 2000 grit papers...what should i do regarding this? it is pretty much impossible for me to get anything bigger than 600 without specially ordering 100 sheets of each grit (who would do that???)

also: how would one go about doing the plastic front part in the same manner? i mean can you just go right ahead and sand down the sucker, put primer on, etc etc as if it were a regular metal piece, or what should i do?

anyway, so far so good, but i'm not sure how i'm gonna get that great shine without the higher grit sandpaper....

I agree, we have automotive paint supply stores around here. I got sheets for around 30cents a piece. As for your plastic front dilema, go ahead and sand it down and when you go get your paper, you can ask, because i'm not sure what it's called, but it is a plastic prep for painting plastic, one word of advice, even coats, and at all costs, avoid runs........Happy painting and have fun!:p

lets just say i'm more or less in the middle of nowhere, switzerland...

not exactly the type of popular you meant...

i'll have to see if i can find higher grit sandpaper @ auto stores (not many here...more or less paint shops but no real auto shops like pep boys...)

360? you must not know how to sand a painting job. 360 is way too hard. you need fine sanding for paint. You should read a bit up on this.

I would't recommend anything under 600 grit papper.

I think you could get away by just using some 600 paper and then applying soem rubbing compound a couple of times. Ofcourse you would have to make sure you sand everything really good. :D
