VPN ports

What ports does Windows 2000 Pro VPN use? I'm trying to setup a VPN so my brother can hop on the network and play some lan games. I need to know the port(s) so that I can open them on my router.

I've never used the one built into Windows but I would think that you can assign it what ever port you wish. I may be wrong though....

You are correct sir!!! You can assign the VPN any port you want depending on your router. What hardware you are using dictates how you set up the VPN, assuming the router is VPN capable.

Most people use an off port that wouldn't be normally scanned. Something really high like 6432 I believe. That's an example, not a suggestion.

Furthermore, lock that port down unless you're playing. Don't leave any holes open for anyone to peek through.
