whats the default voltage for this type of ram? and does running it at 2.60v and 2.75v really hurt it?

The default is 2.5v. 2.6 or 2.75v shouldn't hurt and if you are going to be overclocking you will probably need to increase the vdimm in order for the ram to be stable at a higher fsb.

Crucial DDR loves vdimm. I would go up to 3v with Crucial, its hard to say what the "safe limit" really is. DDR hasn't really been around long enough to determine what the long term effect of overvolting is.

Each mb and memory is a little different, go slowly on the voltages and make sure it is stable before bumping it up. Some mb will oc without much voltage bump.
