I'm really interested in this because of how it affects storage so please leave it here. Which is considered to be the best program?

Nero has consistently been shown to be 10-25 seconds faster than Roxio. For a good all around app, try Stomp, Inc.'s Click 'N Burn Pro (http://www.stompinc.com/clicknburn/cnbp2.phtml?stp)

Go with Nero. It's better all the way unless you want a lot
of hand-holding that Roxio provides.

Pros like Nero.

i like nero... i've used ez cd 4 and its just a little too filtered (for common folk use) down for me. nero is light and efficient.

Thats exactly the reason I only use Nero.. I HATE stupid GUI"s (whatever it's called) like that.. in fact I only used Roxio a few times before I got sick of it.. the install process.. the slow loading...

For mastering (creating audio CDs, VCDs, etc.), I use Nero. For CD-to-CD copying, I use Clone. The Clone site is here: www.elby.de

I have tried just about all of the various CD burning programs, still come back to Nero. It is almost idiot proof and fast. Can't ask for much more.

I agree NERO is the best for VCD and SVCD making.

Am I just an idiot? I use NTI CD Maker 2000 and have never had a problem, maybe I should try Nero! I hate Roxio/Adaptec.

I agree with you guys, Nero is the best, before I had adaptec. Half the time it didn't work and when it did work it was ot very good. I also tried NTI 200 but it didn't have all the features of nero. For most people, in my opinion, nero is the best program.

Well, I just tried cloneCD. It took 3:15 to copy a CD. Nero is at 5 minutes and is only 24%. I'm sure there is something going on here but I don't know what. What is with the "seamless link" feature? CloneCD seems like a very small compact program. The kind I like. It does take a couple of keystrokes to copy but not bad. I'm going to spend a little time with both. I'll report back.

I just noticed that Nero is only using 1-2% cpu utilization. This does'nt seem to be very much. Ideas?

I use Roxio CD Creator 5 for burning CD audio/music, and Nero for everything else (data, mp3s, ISOs, SVCDS).

Nero has an excellent buffer system, and I find it's full of features.

Clone CD for direct CD copes, and Nero for everything else.

Hi,

I use ECDC (Roxio) and CloneCD.... but am starting to get sick of ECDC.... it's proving to be too sensitive to environment and quite delicate software (at least with my rig). I like it from a usability point of view, but it's fat and slow, I agree with most expressed opinions.... maybe will try nero quite soon.

You won't be dissapointed, FTC. ~@10-20 seconds faster than ECDC. :)

Ease of User - Ez Cd Creator 4-5

it really depends on wht ur doing...

Nero: Has good options for creating cds from scratch (vcd/svcd)
Ez cd: Efficient and easy to use (for normal basic functions)
CloneCd: Best to make backups!

I prefer using both nero and clonecd but its really up to u.. ez cd has very good compatiblity with drives (but not with windows xp)

Stomp Inc.'s RecordNow MAX has an even easier interface than Roxio. It uses the Mount Ranier standard, so its as easy to burn as it is to copy info to a floppy. And the Platinum Suite edition includes label making program and DVD authoring as well.

Nero.

I punted my version of roxio 5 across the street and later took it out with a bb gun after it killed windows XP (of course it is compantible now, but they lost me as a user). Evil evil software.

EDIT: I've also had good luck with Padus Diskjuggler

You can't go wrong with Nero. I've burned hundreds of CD's and never once made a coaster.

Once in awhile I'll also use CDRWin....that's not a bad one either. I stay away from Roxio.

I think adaptec should stick with making SCSI drives :p Nero all the way. If you want a fancy-looking gui, use the neroexpress feature.
