If all is going as planned I might have my self a Dual Pentium Pro Box that will crunch or fold! I hope that i get this because it was once a server and has about 2 giga bytes of edo ram in two sticks, dimms I think? ,( ya know That has to be worth somthing:D ). All thay want is a replacement computer that can run excel and word and also some dos programs, and those parts are laying around my house.
My question is are there some tricks that i should know before I dive in?
Also i heard that the older smp, because of the processor desing, only uses half of the second processor is this true?
Wish me luck :burn:
No that isnt. Its the same as with all the rest out there. I have one here Ive been using for a lil while, and the OS wont allow me to fold or crunch, and Ive been to lazy to reinstall it... and Im missing the 5volt vrm that it needs.. heh.. But it works fine and you will be very suprised by how well it runs. I was, hell, still am.
And thats with only 1 cpu!!!

I had a Dual Pent. Pro. up and folding for quite a while. It worked great, I just ran two folding consoles, twice the folding...
Also, the motherboard was a Micronics W6-LI, which allowed a small overclock, so I ran the cpu's at 233 instead of 200.
Now, I took that one apart and put the cpu's into an old server I bought, so I now have a quad...
Let me know if you want to part with some of that EDO RAM, mine only has 128...

w00t!
What OS do you run? I'm thinking of upgrading to quad Xeons just for grins and ha-has.
Those old EDO DIMMs are a rarity and actually worth a bit to somebody that needs them. Not to scare you, flounder.
