Hi,

I am 'adapting' <cough> stealing <cough> Kapultsky's idea about putting multiple computers in a sleek black tube. He gave up on the idea when one of his protypes, well......failed (in a ball of flames). Unfortunately, he was testing the tube with the insides of his 2 computers, and he needs to wait for the insurance money to come in......

So with him out of the picture, I am going to continue after his legacy. What I plan to construct is a a vertivle tube containg multiple 33mhz color computers. The computers inclosed will have no screen, keyboard or mice. This 'computer's' purpose, none.

It will run 24hrs with UPS system (in the pipe ofcourse). It will have a 'control panel' (a line of iluminated switches for the computers {Start/Reset} which appear under the company logo, and controls for the UPS system on a 'tube cap' on a T-Joint.).

These computers will be water cooled with radiator (and you guessed it, all inside the tube!) to avoid heat build-up.

Ofcourse, I have a few questions to ask.

1. I have decided that I will use a NeXT Color Station, an IBM 386 and a Macintosh running at the correct speed. I would appreciate if people on this forum could give me a list of alot of computers maunfactured that run at 33mhz.

2. What kind of preparation would I need to paint a PVC tube?

3. Do computers require a keyboard and mouse to be present during boot up?

4. Do UPS systems require software to run?

5. How would you like to have one of these babies in your bedroom? Ill build them and ship them If I was paid for expenses, labour and shipping (expect shipping to be quite a bit.)

Your assitance is appreaciated.

3. No computers don't require KB and Mouse to be on while booting (you can turn them off in the bios)

2. Lightly sand it with fine sandpaper (just to get some, of the dirt off), use a flat automobile primer, allow it to FULLY dry, lightly sand it again and spraypaint away!

Sounds like a fun project. I need a new case. Just need to find some large tubing.
