Corsair XMS 'Platinum'...

Whats new with these chips that makes them cost $20 more than the non platinum version?

does the 'platinum' singify rev 2.1 or does the 2.1 revision also come in the non-platinum (black heat spreader) packaging?

I would really apreciate some info as I heard that newegg was shipping rev 2.1 so I have an order that hasn't shipped yet of the non-platinum version...

Found out that REV 2.1 also comes in NON-Platintm (Black heat spreader)...

It appears that per Corsairs forum Moderator (RAM GUY) that the only difference is the color of the heat spreader... oh the price of vanity.

That sounds pretty dumb to me. What a waste of money for just a different color heatspreader.

This is what you get with Corsair Plat. Bought from NewEgg about a week ago.

(No Im not gonna check the chips.)
