I was curious what you guys/girls thought about this pump.

Gathering as much info as I could with pumps, heat output and flowrate this pump seems perfect. A very nice 750 gph, "no" heat transfered to the water and only $50.

Perfect execpt you would need a res.

Why would having a res have anything to do with it?

Actually I already planned on making a rather large "wacky" res.
17" length
8" width
12" height
Wooden box.
Get some of those sound killer mat things and place them on the bottom and walls.
Get two or three of those styrofoam coolers, cut the sides off + bottom, and use that to insulate the wooden box to minimize heat exchange.
Put some plexi glass on the bottom of it and the four sides for leak protection and seal with some good glue.
With this Hi-Tech pump I would only have to make some slight changes in design.
Forgot to mention. I plan on keeping it filled with lots of ice. Hence the styrofoam cooler thing.

The front page article “water cooling flow rate and heat transfer” summarizes pump heat rather well. Seperating the Motor from the pump would help a small amount.

If you plan on using ice, dont forget about preventing condensation. You wouldnt want to wreck a new system would ya?
