building systems for some customers, and usually i just use the retail heatsink and fan, i am using oem chips in the lastest systems, thus need to buy a hs and fan for them... my question what is the best.. the things i would like to strive for are:

-ease of installsation (i dont like the VERY VERY tight clip mechanisms.. scares the living S*** out of me everytime i need to put it on :D

-low noise lvl while still keeping the chip plenty cool (will NOT be oc'ing theses systems, but they all will probably fold :D

-low as possible price

any recommendations would be great

For AMD 1.4 or higher, I prefer the Thermalright AX-7 w/ Sunon 80mm-50cfm fan. Cool and quiet.
For Intel Thermalright AX-478 same set up.

It comes w/o a fan.

yeah the ax-7 is alittle more than i will spend.. these systems are very budget minded.. only duron 1.2's in them.. no ocing of any kind, they have to be stable, etc... teh ax-7 is like 25 bucks and tahts without a fan...

TITAN, man! Very quiet and cheap too. I use the D5T model(it has a 80 mm fan), it is not bad for O/C either.

May I jump in on this one, too? Can I add lightweight to his cheap and quiet? I'm in a similar situation, but they live 2 states away and I don't want it to even have the slightest chance of breaking off. TIA all!

I would recommend th volcano 7+ but since u dun like its hard clipping mechanism then I have no idea......

I wrestled wif my volcano 7+ fot a week b4 i got the right formula to remove it easily. the hard clipping mechanism would be easy to remove when u awuire the right technique

the SVC G68 from svcompucycle is a great cooler for lower end cpu's from what i've heard. actually, it's just a renamed D5T. here's a link: http://www.svcompucycle.com/newsvcgc3280.html you can choose a fan or use the one it comes with. The best part? it's only 6 bucks.
