I have a Hurcules gf3 ti500 oem with the blue stock cooler and fan. Its not oc'ed and today it just sho up to 65 C while i was browsing the web. Before it has always stayed around 50 C to 55C max after lots of gaming. What are some standard temps for this card. Should i get another heatsink-fan for it? I saw that useing some articsilver epoxy with a cooler that had a 10mm thin blue fan on it might be a good idea, but i cant find what fan/heatsink that was i think it was being sold at newegg.

The best cooling besides water and without taking up all your PCI slots would be a Cooljag and some arctic silver thermal epoxy. The Cooljag is a CPU cooler so its going to be much better than something like a blorb. The tiny sink is even better than many full sized alu heatsinks.

How can that little thing outperform full alu sinks? In any case, it looks pretty badass.

Because it has a crapload of surface area and it is copper. With copper the fins can be smaller so there can be many more of them.

If I'm not mistaken the copper base and fins are all 1 piece. The process they use is called skiving. The surface area and materials used, make it as good as many standard alu sinks. Newegg might actually have this same HS under a different name. I'll let you know if I find it there.

Just for $hits and giggles today i pulled of the blorb and got the crud they call thermal grease of the dye and heatsink and put on a fresh coat of artic silver and now my temp have been cut in HALF. This afternoon it was 68 C idle and i dare not try to raise it, now its 33 C idle and about 46 C after lots of gaming.

Excellent advice for air cooling. One note, might consider replacing the fan with a 60mm that pushes a touch more cfm on the quite (bolt on). Newegg does carry the heatsink and in fact is part of the cooling solution I use on mine.
