just do it by a little at once and test it with 3damrk or any other intensive 3d application and youre pretty safe.

like otto said just do it little by little and you should be fine. When you run your benchmark look for things like texture tears of hot spots (kinda like static in bad tv reception) If you notice any abnormal textures or dropped textures (white where a texture should be) than back the card off some becuase your memory and or core could be getting to hot. Do you know what an addiction is? :rolleyes: Seriously go and get some fresh air, You know out side. :D Anyway for the newbie, I forgot to mention this earlier but try a different program like riva tuner for your overclock. I have had bad experiances with powerstrip. Powerstrip has a few advanced options also that might be confusing. But bragging rights for an overclock is worth a few bucks for a new card. JK

maybe you and i could go out to lake hefner and go sailing on my dads boat. i was out in the sun most of yesterday working on my grandma's yard and helping her clean out her garage today. frankly i'm a bit tired.

and bman... don't be scared. if you push it too far you can just restart your computer and it will revert to default settings and your card will be undamaged... that is provided you don't leave the room for more than 30 minutes while the computer is locked up.

i agree. i tried power strip and its was very weird to use and didn't seem to work right. i dled riva tuner and am very pleased.

i fonud that gay when i open it....GF2mx200 visiontek version didnt come with stock fan.....owell gonna get me my new computer soon..that why overclocknig on this POS.....that way can be skilled enoguh to overclock my other computer(the new one soon) without blowing it up...any who.....got mem up to 202 before texture drops so brought it down to 196 to be safe. core i havent reached max yet...because been to busy..bout to leave camping..so far i have gotten it to 185....wierd i had an FPS decrease in dragothic game...wonder if there just to much heat on core.......someone siad not worth it to overclock core. too much extra heat not worth the lack on improvement ...o well i doing thsi for experience.

What's your problem with Powerstrip Guys?

I've been using it for 2 years now, and it has allways worked flawlessly for me....
And it's got the options to play around with.....
I even overclocked my monitor with it:D

with a lot of the older cards the core and mem are clocked in sync. That is that the run at the same speeds. Like my radeon 7000 they are both clocked at 156 by default. When i run one up and not the other my scored does the same. Try and set them both at the same speed. But still make sure that it runs stable. This might not be it but it works for me. :D

thats the frequency both core/mem run. the higher the faster.

thats about the regular overclock procedure. you have to increase a little at once and run some intensive 3d application between each. look for things like light flashes (artifacts) on the textures, distorted colors in stuff like fog and reflections and lockups. you can run 3dmark2k1SE for that.
raise mem first by 20MHz at once, if you get any of those things then you got to the limit of the memory.
then start with the core raising it by 10MHz at once.

Okay I figured it out. I got my mem speed up from 333 to 368. I went in increments of 5 I got a higher 3dmark everytime but noticed a few more glitches on every raise. How does 3dmark come up with the score? My score jumped from 4509@353 to 4623@368 but noticed that quality was worse at 368 than 353. I haven't started messing with core speed yet.

by the way, last time i overclocked my fsb i got a lower score on 3dmark. why?
