yea newq platinum newq platinum (http://www.newq.com) . i've got one myself its cool..its also got an FM radio and you can get a power supply so u can power it on w/out your comp on and listen to the radio while ur comp is off..dunno why u'd want to do this but u can:) mine was around $130 at compusa(ugh) dunno how much they are now

Its sorta like a decoder card: it takes the info from the sound card and processes in effects and equalizer settings.

from what I read about it it is a sound prosessing unit for your existing sound card... It converts 6 speaker surround to 4, adds environmental effects, etc. But more than that it is a cool looking graphic visualizer and easily accessible control for volume, headphones, etc (the remote is nice too :beer: ). As well as being a FM tuner... never know when you are gonna want to listen to the radio on your comp speakers... (LOL my comp is connected directly up to my stereo amp :D )

I love my OEM Audigy... but theoretically you dont need anything that good to use with that thing... You could try a SB live! value, I also have one of those and have had no trouble with it... I think those are down to like 35 bucks too... or even somethign lesser if you want... but I have had bad luck with non creative labs audio cards... so now it is SB all the way for me =)

penguin why the audigy gamer... as far as i was aware the only diffrence between the oem audigy ang the gamer was the software... that and about 10-20 bucks?

Its the cheapest, :) Biohazard, if you can locate an Audigy OEM, I;d go with one of those. If not, the Turtle Beach is the next best thing.

no its not...it plugs into your sound card so you can have your mic/headphones at the front and analyze the sound....it has this "pci" card that really isnt a pci card it just takes up a slot on the back of your case...and it comes with link wires and you hook them to your soundcard...you'll see when you get it...it looks cool:) and the refresh rate of the graphic analyzer is really fast


edit: it also has td and dsp effects to add like echos and dif effects to your sound...quite cool..as well as an FM radio with presets:)
