I just received my thermaltake active memory cooling kit and was wondering if it is any good. Would I have been better to get ramsinks? All yea, I can't figure out how to get the stupid thing on either. I guess it's just not my day.

Are you looking to put the heatspreaders on your memory or are you talking about putting ramsinks on your video card's memory chips? For the heatspreaders you can use the adhesive supplied with the kit and just snap on one of those metal clips. For putting ramsinks on your video cards memory you should use Arctic Alumina adhesive.

When I use the 2 adhesive strips that came with the cooling kit, Do I put them on the memory, or the heatspreader.
In the package there are some metal clips of some sort. You'll need those to atatch the heatspreaders to your RAM, and yes the active kit is efficient enough, I would still prefere watercooling, but it doesnt seem to be avalible in Denmar :(
Try looking here, the pics are a little blury but I think you can see how its supposed to be...

So I stick the ram in my mobo, put the tape on it, then put the heatspreaders around it and stick the clips on. Can't be that hard.

LOL ? ? ? HELL NO, dont put it on while yout mem's in your mobo? you'll prop damage something, take you RAM OUT

don't use teh tape!
whgatever you do don't use it, not only does it suck for thermal conductivity.....it sucks to get off. For memory sticks use the spreaders and clips, for vid cards epoxy em on there.

Ok I got it now, put it on the ram first, then put it in the mobo. And don't use the sticky tape, just put the heatspreader directly on the ram. Is this all correct.

i would reccomend taking the stickers off of the ram very very
carefully incase one day you have to return the ram. slap the
stickers back on and RMA.
i think SSS does this. the tape should be fine, but an epoxy
would probably be better like arctic alumina. i would try to
think it down a bit with a bit of AS II/III. a 1/3 between all
3 tubes would be good.
but sense you are unsing the tape, just put the tape on the
the inside of the heat spreader, then carefully fit the 2 halves
on the ram. now put on the clips, and place in the mobo. :p

Pretty smart idea to take the stickers off so you don't ruin them with the sticky tape, or arctic alumina. I will have to pick up some of the arctic alumina though so it will be sticky tape for now.
on the subject of "is it any good" No..
Ram does not require active or passive cooling.. it's all just for looks.
The only exception is RDRAM which does run a bit hot due to the way it was designed.
