Registered Ram - Any Good?

Yeah, guys what exactly does "registered" mean on ram. I know it sure is more expensive than non-registered. Does it offer better performance or just less errors? Would some registered DDR be a good investment?
 
Registered RAM has a register that delays all information transferred to the module by one clock cycle. So you sacrifice performance for data integrity, it is primarily used in servers, for end users, there is no need to buy registered RAM, also most motherboards don't support them.
 
The register modules that refresh the RAM(DRAM loses what is written to it very fast.) is located directly on the memory modules. This function is otherwise located on the motherboard.

And remember that less errors IS better performance.
