I have a WD 20 gig 7200 drive that is dieing. I have a 40 gig one to transfer over to but it won't let me. I have WinXP and the diagnostic tools from WD won't copy NTFS partition. If I had fat32 it would be done by now. I've tried the windows disk but it won't let me transfer to another hard drive. I have Norton ghost but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to copy NTFS partitions and move them to another hard drive?

I'm gonna have to rma it. I'm on it now but it gets a error code of 210. WD's site says I have to get a third party software to copy NTFS partitions. WD should have a copy program for NTFS partitions but they don't. The hard drive lasted 2 months. They better not give me any problems about it.

I might try maxtor for my next hard drive purchase to see how they are. The WD drive has a date of march 3 2002 on it.

Update: I sent the 20 gig back to Western Digital. I tested the new drive and got 30120 on Sandra Twice as fast as the old one. There must have been a problem with the drive to begin with. I don't think they'll be able to fix it since it rattles inside. I'm guess I'm lucky it still worked so I could back up everything.:)
