Poll: Should we be allowed to link to our 3D Mark scores in sig?

Since it´s all about 3D Marks (okok - I know it´s not all about that - but almost :D ) - I think we should be allowed to link to our compare site @ madonion in our signatures!

No.

That's an ad based site that gets revenue from every hit. We don't want to pay for others to get free revenue like that. We pay a lot, and our costs are only minimally covered by the banner ads.

Which has been said before. Recently, too. A search would have revealed this. You could have also contacted me privately (which I did tell you) and I would have been happy to explain to you.

You seem to want this to be rehashed yet again, though. It has been brought up enough times that it isn't necessary. Some things are done the way they are because the majority wants them that way. Others are done because Skip, Joe and Ed have reasons for doing things that way. This is one of the other ones.

Maybe if MadOnion wants to give some of their Ad Revenue to us or do paid advertising on our site, then we will consider it.

Otherwise, won't happen.

It's just not fair to the ones that pay for ads on our site to get traffic from here sent to them.

if you are a member of the o/c 3dmark team you can hit up that page and click on the links to compare. its not like there's no way of doing it.

just make sure you have the link to the o/c 3dmark team in your sig...and people will find your scores.

pretty simple if you ask me.

See why we have the stupid rule about no Links in Sigs ? Makes some sense when you think about it. If we allowed it, why should anyone advertise? Just create a Member account, put the links in your Sig and go to town posting.

That's a little bit of an extreme example, but I know you get the idea. MadOnion pays to advertise on other sites, but does not here. Why should we send traffic to them?

Sorry, but this is something I'm very Anal about. My hard earned personal money along with some donations from Members run this site. I'm not going to let rich company's freeload off our Forums. When we reach the point where the Ad Revenue coming in is more then the expense of running the Forums, I'll probably ease up on this rule a bit.

i never really thought about it before, but when u put it that way it makes perfect sense.
