alright.. so i finally got all the hardware bugs worked out and im ready to install windows on my pc. i've got win2k and windxp. i cant get either of them to install. they always just get to the phase where they copy files to the hard drive, which they do successfully. then it reboots, and restarts the process. how do i get to the GUI section of setup? it just keeps trying to recopy the setup files, rather than using them to setup windows..

yup ive had this too. easyest way to remedy it is to eject the cd after it copys the files. then it will reboot and proced. if it needs it later it will ask for it. i wonder why they havnt fixed this yet?
ps and you as well, have you got this yet?

that is odd. maybe you can try a freinds cd. those files it copys alow it to boot into a basic windows to finish installing. posibly there are corupted files being laid down in the copying? never had this prob before so im only speculating

dont really have a clue what to do.
ive formatted a few times. reformatted to NTFS [even through it was already in NTFS]. tried using bootdisks.. etc. i can see all the necessary files through the repair console.. but i cant get to them. baaahhh
i saw a flashing screen the very first time that i tried to install win2k. it said something about the boot sector, but it continued with the setup before i had a chance to read it all [i was out of the room for a few minutes]. did something unrepairable mess up right there?

Sounds like possibly a HDD problem. What HDD do you have?

its a western digital 40gb ata100 7200rpm drive. pretty standard.
I had that same problem when I put my D740X in my machine. I didn't have the settings right in the BIOS to detect my HDD properly, and I had a marathon post on here to try and figure that one out. Same error message, same symptoms...

never figured it out?
My original attempts had the same problem, doing the install as an upgrade, but when I switched to a fresh install everything went smoothly.
