View Full Version : New ATI drivers and unknown devices, wtf!!!!!! HELP!!! HELP!!! HELP!!!
I uninstalled the original drivers and installed the new Catalyst 02.1 6094 drivers. Now every time I boot it pops up that it found like 5 new hardware devices all named Unknown. In device manager there are now 5 devices named unknown all with a question mark by them. The video card driver appears to be installed correctly because it show as All-In-Wonder 8500DV under display adapter. Also I can run 3dmark and play games fine. But how do I rid my self of all these devices? Should I uninstall this driver and go back to the original? I really need help as I only have a few hours to fix this problem. I'm scared that now all these devices are messing up my pc somehow...its not even mine I built it for my uncle and I'm flying back in acouple days...anyways I really need help with this, does anyone have any idea how to correct this?????
you have the video card drivers installed properly but you need to download 2 more sets of drivers. you will need the capture drivers and the MMC (multimedia center) software, you have to download the newest versions of each from the ATi website.
thats what I was kind of thinking but I thought of that after I uninstalled the new catalysts. Well anyways I popped in the original ATI cd, reinstalled all the stuff and no more problems. My uncle does not play games at all he only uses the card for normal desktop work, tv, dvd, and dv stuff in the future. The new drivers mostly just improve gaming performance right? Stability and dependability is the issue here not highest benchmarks. My uncle is a newb at pc's and I'm leaving in a 2 days so I dont want to complicate things by isntalling latest drivers and dealing with bugs over the phone a week from now.....
Anyways, I got rid of all of the unknown devices except 2. I have no clue what these are the only thing that I see is the first one "on Intel(R) 82801DB LPC Interface Controller - 24C0 " and the second "on Intel(R) 82801DB LPC Interface Controller - 24C0 " for location. I did install the chipset drivers and I do have like 5 or 6 Intel sumthings in the System Devices tab. I manually installed the Intel LAN Pro VE drivers off of the gigabyte cd but it shows on location "PCI Slot 1" and thats an emtpy slot, my LAN is onboard that worries me too. Any help with any of my problems is appreciated.....
