Hello all. I'm making a new, copper waterblock for my video card, but I've got some weight concerns. I'm figuring that with my volume of copper the block will weigh around 400-500 grams with the fittings, mounting hardware and water once it's all done.

Do you think that's too much for a video card (GeForce4 Ti4200) with no support other than the AGP slot and the case mounting screw?

What sort of weight should I aim for?

Thanx.

I believe it is possible to give the waterblock additional support, I think bladerunner has done that.

Yes, parkan has it right. All you need to do is tie off some fishing line from the card to any case protrusion above it, usually under the psu.

there is no problem with that mass, have a look here: http://www.zerofanzone.co.uk/content.asp?request=liquidgf3&page=1 this is BladeRunner's web site and he has created a graphics card cooling system which come in at 625 grams. He uses this graphics card fine with no support (to my knowlege)

I remember seeing Bladerunner's original work, and hearing all about the Jen Hsun trade. Anyway, I was talking to some friends over at MO and they seemed to suggest that I could even go as high as a kilo without worrying too much about it.

I've got to get to Home Depot to check out what sorts of fittings they have that would be suitable for a video card block. Their selection of specialty fittings is usually pretty crappy :) I'll build around what I can buy from them.

Thanks fellows.
