View Full Version : My 3DMark2001 Score Dropped 200 Points!

I was getting a steady score of 3550 on 3DMark2001, and the last few times I've run it, it's been 3350. Any idea of what can cause this? I'm pretty sure I haven't changed any major settings anywhere.

Gremlins are getting restless?

Have you fed them before midnight like I said?

Seriously, not a clue. I can't explain a lot of things I see happening with windows systems (yes, I find Microsoft to be a very prudent and liable scapegoat).

Yeap I think you scores are a bit low...
maybe you haven't tweaked your machine too much yet (there are many things you can do even if you don't overclock)
I get 3152 with Geforce256 DDR 32MB (Asus 6800 Deluxe) and a PIII 1000MHz (256mb RAM which is crappy cas3)

The highest score with a pentium 3 1000 or below and a Gf256 ddr registered on madonion.com is 3110... could you give us a link to that benchmark, crAss ?

Your score's not too bad, but there is some room for improvement. 3DMark 2001 is less CPU dependent than 2000, so it's mostly just your video card holding back the score (though mine jumped 800 points when I overclocked).

Well I forgot to mention that my cpu was clocked at 1027 instead of 1000 MHz cause I think that that kind of an increase is a degrace to overclocking (where are the good days when I got 550 out of my c366)

The more you take up hard drive space the more your score goes down. Thats why i always reformat if i wanna bench.

And actually i think 3dmark2001 is more dependant on your processor. I definetly know my VooDoo3 is maxed out so.

The more i keep overclocking my processor...the more the score goes up!

Yes, that is true -- it does depend some on the processor, as I noted above, but compared to 3dMark 2000, not as much (you could literally create good scores from only decent cards if your cpu was pushing 1.2-1.7 ghz).
