hi, i bought this atx case with 350 watts power supply... it comes with 6 fans. it has 4 fans in the front blowing air in, one rear fan blowing out, and one side fan blowing out. i have the amd xp 1800+ processor and msi kt3 ultra motherboard, with a volcano 5 heat sink.

i dont understand why i am still getting high temperature. on pc alert 3 it shows for cpu 56c and for chasis it shows 46c when loaded...when idle i get around 51c for cpu and 41c for chasis.

what can i do to lower temperature...i tought for sure that the 6 fans atx case will do the trick. thanks

doenst seam so wierd to me really that volcano5 is your problem

i have same mobo and cpu and used to have a volcano6 on it wich had 42C idle max somewhere around 50C
i would try a volcano7+ or the new one (dunno model name)

curantly i have a coolermaster HCC-001 and 1intake front(92mm) 1intake side(80mm) 1exhuast back(96mm) and i run idle 34C max around 37C (didnt strestest yet but around that should be)

also sidefan is loctaed where?.... and maybe try making it blow air inside case to test if that is better

so the volcano 7+ heatsink will make a big differnence over volcano 5 heatsink? is it hard to install a heatsink, i was fortunate when i got this motherboard, the vendor put the volcano 5 on it.

the side fan is located on the side panel of the case, place in the middle and just a little toward the back.

thanks

take that volcano **** and throw it away

get urself a swiftech or slk-800 with a fatty fan like a vantec tornado and make sure u use as3 or as2. if not, well just do it.

also, 4 front intake fans and 2 exhausts, one of which is useless?

try making ur airflow an actual flow. U wanna get the hot air out, id try the following.. maybe 2 front intakes, 2 side intakes, 1-2 rear exhausts, power supply exhaust, and a top blowhole exhaust.

At the moment ur pushing air that cant be circulated, its messy. The side fan pulling air out is most likely doing nothing unless its really powerful, but even then its just pulling air from ur 4 front intakes. Have it push, and exhaust a bit more..

dunno, my $.02

and o yea, if u really have a problem with heatsink mounting, get a http://www.svcompucycle.com/swifmcx462uu.html

the mcx has a great mounting system and is still one of the best. Fat fans like the ax7 or slk-800 can be difficult cause of their 3 prong mounting system. Tt's volcano line of hsf's = ****.

arent those fans quite noise?... well never knew db of but i think i saw that somewhere?

but if ya dont want alot of noise and want a easy clip take a HHC-001 from coolermaster, the clip is rather easy to get on no tools needed yust 1 finger :)

uh, i have the hhc 001, its easy to install and gets good temps (even better if you lap it). but its loud... it comes with a delta 38cfm clone on top of it, which aint quiet.

yeah u better throw yr volcano 5 away like someone had said b4. volcano6+ is already a little better than amd stock fan. I am pretty sure volcano5 will be stinkier than the amd stock fan

though I use intel I am sure volcano 7+ will perform as well on the amd.

b4 using the volcano 7+, I had idle temps of 47 and load of far over 50 with ambient of 31. SEE my new temps in my sig? remember to use all HSF with AS and remember to remove than crappy thermal pad
