you just insert the cd and it will start the process of install.
for extra help go to this site,

there is info on clean install of XP under the set up tab.

You need to set your bios to boot from cd....you can get in your bios even if you have nothing on the hard drive. Just set it to boot from cd. Pay attention because it will ask you questions on how you want it set up. It even formats the hard drive. Very easy:)

Does it really do that? Man. I got a Windows XP upgrade CD as a present my my relatives, and it is giving me problems. I'm thinking seriously of just buying a full version. t would make my life easier.

I've never gone the upgrade route before but I've reinstalled twice after installing the first, and every time it reformats your hard drive then asks you how you want it partitioned. I got the oem version from googlegear for $140. you have to buy a 'hardware' part also to get that price.

$90 at Newegg.com. I think I will order once I get some cash.

$90 must be for home edition....$140 is for pro.

Yeah it is. By the way, how different are the two versions?

The upgrade version is a FULL version. You just don't have to pay as much because you allready own a Windows version. It gives you a choice to upgrade which will keep all the settings and bells and wistles the way you already have them set. But I strongly suggest that you do a full, CLEAN install.
Set your bios to boot from the cd-rom and make sure your Windows XP cd is in the drive. Choose the full install and let it format your hard drive. Use NTSF instead of FAT32. It's really easy.
