I have some cherished old video games (the Kilrathi saga) that are DirectX remakes of earlier MS-DOS versions. They remain playable on modern computers, I don't know if that is a virtue of DirectX or the specific design of the games themselves (the earlier MS-DOS versions are not playable). The games slow themselves down on fast computers.
I have yet to make my own custom system (and am taking my own sweet time learning about all the options available) and I have started considering overclocking and liquid cooling.
I am concerned that overclocking will make my computer run faster than it thinks it's running, thus screwing up the slowdown algorithm (or whatever it is) that is in these games.
Does anyone have any idea if this will cause a problem?
