View Full Version : New Corsair 3200 rev. with Winbond
Supposedly according to Corsair tech support, the new 3200 rev. 2.1 xms3200 is now using the Winbond "BH" revision chips. This pic from newegg: http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=20-145-413-01.JPG
Anyone tried these yet? I just ordered one to check out.

People are claiming better results from these chips with Winbond then what the Samsung REV C CTL did so ya might want to pick one or 2 up.
Heres a link to Corsairs forums corair forums (http://www.houseofhelp.com/v2/forumdisplay.php?forumid=128)

Best i've seen yet!... anything over 3000 is good though.. I am impressed... how much viltage are you feeding that ram?
Brian
2.8v, 2.5 6 3 3.
It may go higher with more but I'm not inclined to cook it.

Shad, you got a nice stick there. Recent ones (even CTL's) are not hitting anywhere near that. I guess Samsung is saving all the good chips for the upcoming ddr400.

will do 225mhz! tested it in memtester for 10hours straight not a single error!
of course this is with relaxed by spd.
ummm... wouldnt boot into windows at that speed cause of my hdd tho.
We are getting the best results on KX7's using Xtremeddr PC3200

I just got a 512mb stick of the PC3200 r2.1 Will test it out as soon as my KX7 333r comes in the mail. Picked the ram up for $179 + shipping just before the price hike.

I don't get it.

Winbond ddr400 is pretty good if you can find it, twinmoss has released ddr400 using the winbond ddr400(-5ns chips) so this should be good also. Here is what I got out of my ddr400 stick.

This was at 3.0v on the IT7 3:4 ratio, enhance off.

You need to post the CPU speed with that case i bet if i could run my system at 2.5 gigs i could get something simular.. CPU plays a roll in that bench.
slap that system down to 1800 and lets see that score hehe..
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ad.leach/cpuid3gig.JPG
If the IT7 had a 3:5 ratio I would bench at the lower cpu speed but identical ram speed but it doesn't so this will have to be my best. Here is a bench of a p4s333 with 533 bios running 150fsb with the mem at ddr450.

As you see this is still pretty impressive for ddr.
The corsair 2.1 seems to hold aggressive timings better than the samsung chips did. I asssume that we will see the Winbond real ddr400 chips on modules soon. I wonder what speed corsair will sell them O.c'ed to then. PC3500?

If that were true how would you explain the samsung based Xtremes out performing it at lower FSB and with what looks like slower timings to boot?

Prob cause the Xtreme was on an Intel system not AMD.

Last time I checked an Abit KX7 333 was an AMD system.

Does the rev. 2.1 winbond chips only come on the PLatinum series XMS 3200 or is this chip on the plan Black XMS 3200 heatspeader series to.

I don't think the color of the heatsink matters. Just have to be sure that it is ver2.1 and that will be the winbond chips.
I think it is only paltinum, but ask here:

RamGuy at the corsair thread says there is no difference except for the color.
Link (http://www.houseofhelp.com/v2/showthread.php?threadid=7194)
In another post he says:Everything comming out of Newegg at this point (XMS3000 or XMS3200) should be rev 2.1. Doesn't matter if it's a "PT" model or not, it's the same module with different colored heat spreaders.
Hope this helps. :)

Well crap that must mean that its hand picked PC3200... heh screwed again i see.. Why? Well i just sent back my DOA stick to newegg and i bet the stick i get next wont do 200 at cas2 since newegg is out of them and there next batch will be the picked over from corsair.
:(
Where do you see the new stick at? I dont see it at newegg.
I have talked to Corsair marketing. They have shipped today or yesterday to distribution. I am going to check with their distributer Synnex today if I can get ahold of my rep., and see when it will be out. Pricewatch has 1 listing at Spartan, but it is way high $!
Ram Guy says it will be rev. 1.1 but uses the BH chips also. If I can get one I may RMA my 2.1 to newegg, but mine is running at 402 cas2-3-3- 1T now, so I wonder if the C2's can go even higher at aggressive settings.
KnownKiller, did you get a DOA stick of XMS3200, too? My replacement was shipped Friday and should be here on Thursday, I wonder what it will be? The DOA was 2.1.

Yes it was a 3200 2.1 stick.. Well mine is still on its way there. So the one i get if they send the same back will be a new shipment... So my chances suck... If they already sent out one for you last Fri then its most likely the from same batch i had...meaning good stuff.
I'm locked into a discount for the 2 sticks.. so i doubt they will let me get the 3200C2 insted for the same price. unless they only get in 3200C2 since there out of the 3200 right now. Well of the 3200PL they are. I dont want the black heat spreader cause it wont match my case.

Later If they have not shipped it yet, try to cancel the order. I just RMA'd a P4 1.8A a few weeks ago. It came in and was an old pack date. I called them up and told them I was not satisfied with the product and they gave an rma number. I had not opened the box and there was a 15% restocking fee but I was willing to pay that.
i bought my XMS pc3000 from newegg a few weeks ago. how do i know if it's rev2.1??? It doesn't say in their description. And damn did all RAM prices go up or just Corsair?? I'm runnin' mine at 400mhz anyways, so it's still good ram
The new "C2" 3200 512 sticks are listed on a couple of sites so far and the price was about $250-260. Seems high! My ver. 2.1 512-3200 seems to run fine at 201 2-2-5-2-1T, so maybe I should stick with the old stick. The new C2's are only guaranteed to run at 200-2-3-5-3-1T, so I'm not sure how much higher they will go at turbo settings.

Dang! I wish I would have saw this sooner. I just ordered my ram from Newegg because I didn't know if Googlegear's was v2.1. I paid extra from newegg, but oh well I like them anyways. I did buy my 2.26b from Googlegear though.
