It can also be for several other things. It basically allows you to add upgrades to your card like a tv-out, DVD decoder, memory upgrade...

it the cow......are u sure about memory upgrades .....i know for older EDO cards mine is 2mb in 4chips and i have 4free spots where i can drop in some ram to make it 4mb total....but i havnet heard of the newer cards doing that...wouldnt it be slow if it used 26pin interface becuase its not directly on the board with the other ram chips?

I don't know. All I know is that they're for add-ons. For the old cards, they may be used for memory, but for the newer ones, they're probably for things like tv-out. That or I'm going crazy. Oh. Too late
