Has any of you bought the AIW radeon 7500, and got everything working in win 2k/xp?
I have tried everything I can think of to get the tv tuner working in win2k to no avail...I even upgraded to XP pro, and I get an error suggesting I loaded the os improperly (which I find insulting) and the error message states to check the device manager to see if everything is installed correctly and everything is listed as ok...no unknown devices.
I have downloaded every updated driver on ATI's site, and installed them, and I still get "tv failed to initialise...check your device manager " or something to that effect.
If it was mine, I would have returned it for a refund, but alas I'm trying to figure this out for a freind...and it's killing my social life...till I either get this thing figured out, or tell him to dump the os.
Between the two, I can't figure out which s*cks worse win2k, winxp, or ati's poor excuse for coding.
Any suggestions will be most apreciated, as I'm about ready to buy the card from my freind, just for the satisfaction of putting a minnie ball (bullet) right thru the tv tuner:mad:

Hi

Try the suggestions on this page. (ATI support pages)

Common Sources

The "The TV player failed to initialize video" error can occur for a variety of reasons. The items listed below are the most common sources:

Video Overlay or Multimedia Driver is already in use or disabled by another application
Graphics Hardware Acceleration is not set to full
Insufficient display resources available
Video Overlay is unavailable on secondary display adapter
Video Overlay is not available or supported by display adapter
System is using DirectX 8.0a
Windows 2000 Terminal Services are installed

Thanks for the reply Don,
The card has 64mb mem so resources shouldn't be a prob, I have no secondary video card, hardware acceleration is set to full,Video overlay should be supported, after all the thing came with a tv tuner,O.S. is winXp, so dx 8.1 is there, and terminal services were not installed..
The only thing I can think of is either I need a bios flash for the BX133 raid, or some other multimedia app is disabling video overlay. I have been to ATI's site so many times that I'm sick of the logo...and I d'l'ed every update they have for that card, and I'm about ready to just give up on the NT kernel...no backward compatibility with anything.
Thanks for replying though, I really do apreciate it.
Funny, win98 has no prob with any of the AIW's features.

It could maybe just be that ATI has had longer to develop for Win 98 than 2000/XP. I've found that ATI do have a lot of trouble with TV tuner and Win 2000/XP. I have the TV WONDER VE and to be able to use it at all with XP i have had to go back to very old drivers (6.13.3276 14/9/2001) and they suck. Half the time when i boot up, my screen is locked to 60Hz and only a reboot fixes it.

Hmm, w2k drivers maybe? at this point, anything is worth a shot.
Wouldn't it be neat to have a universal driver that would drive almost any hardware? The windows driver model(wdm) comes close, but we're a long way from that day

One driver for everything would be great! Doesn't seem likely though.
Another thought: Is linux an option for you? You could probably get the card working under linux. ATI has a link to a page with instructions. Im planning on gettind round to trying it sometime soon.

Well I tried Abit's Gentus linux, but ran into a few hiccups, and before I got a chance to play more..I sold the experimental box it was loaded on...maybe someday I'll try Debian...or Apache
But the AIW radeon is on a freinds comp, and linux is out of the question
