What thermal paste to get?

I need to get some thermal paste with my HSF just wondering what to get. Just need alittle thats inexpensive. Thanks

Arctic Silver 2 or 3. If there's a differnce between them, its nominal. You should be able to find a tube for about $7. Or get Arctic Alumina if you plan on modifying your Ti 4400 with ramsinks. Alumina is not so bad either.

No question AS3...or if you worry about AS3 being cunductive/capacitive ASalumina. It is not that expensive and anyway...it is critical to you system so going cheap is in the end MORE expensive (when you gotta replace a fried cpu) than spending a few bucks and getting AS.

I use AS3 and alumina. So far I have seen maybe 1 degree difference between the two, with AS3 being the lower one.

Artic Silver III is excellent. A tube of will give u about 5 uses.

When it come's to thermalpaste, you cant take shortcuts or cheapways. You will end up paying the price :O

a 3 oz tube is enough for 34 CPUs according to one site. Remember all you need is thin little layer on the core of the CPU.

Oh yeah and AS3 is my personal preference with it comes to thermal compound.

I got some cheap(well it wasnt cheap) thermal paste called Shin EtsuMicroSi from the local shop for 5 bux when it only has enough for about 2 uses and I dont think its that good. I got a new mobo and needed some paste to switch the cpu over. At first I was using the crappy pad that comes on the heatsink and then I put some of this stuff on and the temps are about the same. I ordered some fans today and thought what the hell Ill get some AS3 just to see if my temps would improve. We will see soon enough. I hope my temps inprove from the 39/45 that I have now. Ill leave the new fans unpluged while Im testing so I get accurate results.
