i havnet used linux much, but im gonna convert, my moms computer would be like the internet server machine for me.. because i only have dialup and winmodem
my external modem blew up in a storm, so i only have a winmodem
now im wondering how networking would go on these machines, would it be difficult? and would ics be difficult to do?

c'mon guys help the stupid kid out! ;)
masked - you are not a 'stupid' kid, i've read a lot of your posts that say otherwise. You give very good advice!
dialup - sharing bites, to say the least, but if that is what you have, alright then. You can try a prog from www.anologx.com, they have a free proxy server prog. I think it works on dial-up. You would need to load this on the windoze pc, (dial-up) and then point your linux box gateway/dns to that box. Sorry for the brief discreption, but I know you should be able to figure it out.
Oh, I see you changed your avatar. :)

Yes, there is. In fact, Mandrake includes a nice little wizard (sorry for the Windoz lingo :)) to get it all set up for you. Beware, though, if you use Mandrake 8.1, you may run into a little bug which prevents ICS from working. If you set up sharing in Mandrake, and it doesn't work, as root, remove /etc/sysconfig/iptables by using the command "rm /etc/sysconfig/iptables" in your CLI. Sorry for not going into an explanation, but it is pretty unimportant.
