Bare with me, the question is at the bottom. Well, I am building a purely beautiful machine ladies and gentlemen. It may not be popular among the overclocking crowd, I admit, even I was a little thrown by what I was doing at first, but it is going to be a nice box to take to lan parties anyway. Here are the specs...

-SOYO Dragon Ultra Platinum edition (integrated sound, lan, and usb 2.0) 'not to crazy about the sound, but it does actually come with optical out'
-Athlon XP 2200+
-512MB Crucial PC 2700 DDR333
-Plextor 40x20x40CDRW
-Aluminum Lite on CD-ROM drive
-Aluminum FDD
-Rounded Metal Mesh braided ide and floppy cables
-2X80GB Matrox D740X HDD's (ATA133 of course)
-Lian Li PC65USB case (Nice window to show off the Pretty plat.)
-Swiftech MC462X HSF (yeah, it's friggn huge!)
-and a neon red light with biohazard case etchings in the window, and fan grills to boot!
-(heres the dilemma) What kind of graphics card do I drop in this thing??
I don't care about getting the most framerates, but I want to be able to play all the latest games at full performance levels. I also want to be able to hook it up to my 53" widescreen HDTV. The new Radeon supports it, but I'm not sure about the G4. Please give me your questions and comments on the graphics card issue, and any thing else you might like to add.

Your thread is named "Radeon 9700 or Geforce4 TI 4600 or wait?" - well - how long can you wait until you buy your new rig (which sounds all pretty cool btw. except the Athlon cpu ;) - IŽd prefer the PIV2.26b)?? I think the new Nvidia chip NV30 will beat the crap out of the Radeon 9700!

Got any idea when it will be out? I'm not totally funded to build the new rig at the moment anyhow. I figure if I wait a while, the 4 big guns, Matrox, Nvidia, 3dLabs, and ATI, will flood the market with price drops, and new technology. God I love it when big companies compete for whee little meee!:) But I would still like some more insight on what card you think I should get and why.

stick with a 2200/2300+ tbred. whoops any pentium mhz for mhz.

as for the vid card, you can wait a bit, and get a NV30, or go
with a 9700. the 9700 is directx 9 so it should last you a long
time, but the NV30 will be better.

and if you are gonna overclock, go with some mushkin pc3000
or corsair as they should be around teh same price range as
the crucial but yield better results. :p

Well - the rumors go from Oct 2002 to early 2003 - sadly nothing is fix by now!

Thx for the ensight. I have always been under the influence that Crucial was the one all be all in overclocking ram???

well, it's not the best overclock wise, but i would say maybe quality wise. very good customer support, but mushkin and
corsair have just as good customer support.
