my friend burned me this cd wit his easy cd creator but my regular cd rom doesnt even get that a cd is in the cdrom and my cd burner thinks its an empty cd (665 out ot 703 unused space)

well my friend told me he put data on it and it should work.
also i looked in properties of that cd it says CDUDF as file format.. whats that? how can i read that?

Your friend prolly did a direct cd drag n drop, but didn't finish the disk session out.

yeah, as jajmon said, the cd probably isn't finalized. take it back to him and get him to finalize it or make you another copy (probably easier) and you should be able to read it easily.

hmm i have 2 older CD rom drives that just wont read CDR's no matter what.....

is this the first time you have tried to run a cdr in your drive ?

If the friend trys to make a 'copy' he would have to put it in his cd rom drive, and if not finalized, that reader will not recognize it as well.

Finalize the session would be the best to try.

I was having problems with my CDR and you know what the problem was? Dust ...open the tray door stick the Vac in and give it a good suck! that does the trick.....then slap a CD cleaner in there.... get a Biblo with the re-alinement magnents ...Yes thats how the lazers is positioned and let it run 5-6 times ...hey presto good as new...Oh the CD not reading in the origanal link...close the season.

My work laptop has XP Pro, and can't explore ANY cd- I can install from them, or copy to the hard drive, but it is not possible to just explore the cd.

Goes back to Toshiba next week; maybe when it comes back I'll hate XP less.......

The Biblo Cd cleaner can be bought from High end Audio stores i got mine at a Bang & Oulfsan store cost a bit more than a standard CD cleaner but it was worth it as it got a old DVD drive to work again. They are normaly used By Engineers in factories to do the final tweak to the lens.

Easy cd creator is not that good at making a 1 to 1 pure copy, I recommend d/ling one of these shareware copy apps (I use CloneCD myself). With CloneCD you can use it for 21 days b4 having to buy it, and you will buy it after you use it.
