i like your dreads :D
once my dad gets the digi cam back from work i will show you my home made wb
Well... Maskedgeek's are nice... and the one I made recently is nice too... but wait till I make my next one! Whoa mama you're gonna be begging to buy one off me :)
I've already got it drawn up and all. Socket 478 and 462 compatible, ultra high surface area and turbulence, but still low pressure drop.
:D

My vote goes for the Maze2. Ill stick with 100% copper. That plastic crap scares me.

gemini hi flow spiral seems to be the best from past posts....hoot is makiong a WB round up with custom designs as well as many of the popular ones out there. I have wno idea on the ETA of that.....(don't speculate on how long...unless of course your hoot :D)

There is not data as of yet to determine which is the "best" block. Go with what you like, they all seem to perform within 1-3C of each other anyway. I use the D-Tek Spir@l, works great and looks cool. Is it better than block X, who knows, it certainly gets the job done!

u guys are neglecting direct die cooling....
but I have a maze3.... it's sealed by a rubber gasket so I'm not worried...
plus the design leads me to think it would have better turbulence....
my cpu is 1 degree above case temp idle, and 3-4 under load, so I'd say it works pretty well for a closed system

All I've got is a "crappy" old school becooling jagged edge and the thing works great. My on die temps on this warm summer evening are 32 degrees, and that's with a low flow rate, and slow fans.
I think about any well made waterblock works "well enough"
I've become very skeptical of acrylic blocks now. Ive been working on my own design, and cant get the lexan top to seal to save my life. All surfaces are lapped, I've tried different adhesives, and everytime the damn thing leaks like a seeve. Driving me bonkers. Thought the acrylic top would look sweet with my blacklights, but I'm ready to bust out the torch and solder a brass top on.
If I'm having such a hard time with sealing, it makes me question how well those commercial units will hold up over time.
