I am painting the chassis of my Chieftec and I don't know what color to do the bottom panel. I don't really want to paint it blue because the rest is blue. All I have left is the gloss blue and flat black from painting my drives. Should I paint the bottom gloss black? I know you can't really answer that and one of you will say it's up to me. So can you tell me what color combinations you think would look good? Thanks Here is a pic of what I am done with so far:

finish it off in the blue, then use the black for accent...like the drive housings and maybe the PSU... that would look kool....

Go black since you have it. I've seen many cases with red next to black or red next to blue.

but I vote for red.

Well, I would do orange, or blue with orange accents. Like do all the edjes in orange and hd bays and stuff. That's just me though. I'm addicted to orange.

I would go with blue.
But even before that maybe you should paint the ugly fan mounts instead. Thats the first thing I put paint to when I got my case.

Does the paint chip off the fan housings? Charlie, I don't really want to redo the drive housings, unless you mean the 3.5 bays. In that case, I would paint that black. How about the psu mounting plate? I think I will do that black. funkdamonkman, you should do it as long as you have a window to see it.

I just painted the fan mounting bracket flat black and it looks great. I think I will do the top and bottom blue since I still have 1 whole can left and some of another can of blue. I used the last of the black so the drive cage is going to have to wait. I think I should have done the support beams black too but whatever. I am letting the other fan brackets dry now, the flat doesn't take too long to dry. Here is a pic:

mike, was your case stuck together with screws? I have the Antec version of that case, and all the pieces (except the side panels) are stuck together with rivits or something, and not screws.

If your's is the same way, how did you get it apart, and how do you plan to put it back together?

Mine was stuck together with rivets, as are all the versions of the case. I took the whole case apart to paint it. If I left it together I would get alot of uneven spots. I just riveted it back together. With a riveter.:)

I painted the bottom and top blue because I ran out of primer and black. It will be postponed yet again.

Go with black, and do everything else inside the case black to match--drive housings, drive casings, PSU casing, fans, everything. Make it all match. I think that'd look pretty cool.

in order to take the case apart you need to get past the rivets. The easiest way is to just drill them out!

jadams

After you drill them out, would it be possible to use screws to put it back together?

just make sure that the drill bit that you use is not bigger then the width of the screws you want to use.

I guess it would be possible if you had a tap set or used nuts and bolts. And I was planning on getting clear fans with blue leds in them. Charlie, did you get yours installed yet? I want to know if I have to get a cc kit or if the fans light it up enough.

The small 3mm LEDs in the crystal fans don't light up much. Plus most of the versions of them flash (the LEDs that is).

Blue LEDS Are cool... red and blue would be cool, like 2 blue and 2 red

That's why I asked Charlie because he bought the same fans that I am planning to get.

well, I have two mounted in front, and two mounted in the back, for me, it looks good. I mean their not a cc's ... I dont want it TOO bright. It has a nice haze to it, kinda glows around the edges...

I don't know if I am going to use a neon or cc yet. I already painted the bottom gloss blue but I am doing the drive cages in black but should I do that in flat or gloss?
